Abstract
Why the women in Chile don't take the exam of Papanicolau. Women that belong to the AUGE program



Purpose: identify why the women in Chile don't take the exam of Papanicolau. Women that belong to the AUGE program


Methods: Descriptive, qualitative, and cross-sectional study in a group of 500 women from AUGE program in the Southeast Metropolitan Public Health Service, Santiago, Chile In the sectors of Puente Alto and Paine


Results: The principal reasons for not having had a PAP test were procrastination; the problems related to the PAP test procedure like fear, embarrassment, discomfort, and lack of time; and because she doesn’t know about the benefits of the exam.

Conclusions: All the reasons given by the Chilean women in this study have been described in the international literature. Health professionals are in a position to change the perspective that the women have, and therefore for increasing the education and cervical cáncer screening for women. Results of this study can serve as a guide for education programs and can be applied in clinical practice.


Discussion: The number of women can be reduce through programs of education, and in this context the exam of papanicolau is the only one that can reduce the incident of mortality for cervical cancer. For this reason is very important that the professional in the topic know about the problem and suggestions that women have for take the exam, and of this way many people would have a healthy better. This study can provide information in relation to this aspect.
The importance of the results of the study to implement public health policies that would meet the objectives proposed by the Ministry of Health.

My first post

Hello everybody my name is Adan Otay and this is my new blogspot for my English class, I’m a student of the Universidad de Chile and study Obstetrics. I’m from Punta Arenas, a city at the south, far far away from this, my new city Santiago of Chile. Here I live with my friend Mario in a apartment, he was my classmate in the school.


Everyday I walk to the university because my home is 2 block from this. I love my degree.


My parents and sister live in Pta arenas, I visit them every holiday in summer and winter, I have many regards of my life in Pta Arenas, they were 18 years of greats adventures and happynes. Nowadays  I also live a a good life here, I have many friends and alldays are a new adventure for my.
